Will of William of Stodday 1691

In the name of god Amen the 21st day of September 1691 I Willm Hathw enet of Stodday within the Countye of Lancaster husbandman beinge sicke i n bodye but of good & pfecte memory praysed be god for the same, doe or daine & make this my last will & testament in manner & forme following : first I give and bequeath my soule into the hands of god almighty hop ing through the merits of of Jesus Christ my saviour to have [remission ?] of all my sinnes & my bodye to earth from whence it came & to bee bu ried in the pish church yard of Lancaster in decent manner, as for my t emporall goodes I dispose of as hereafter followeth: vizd: I give & beq ueath unto James Spence my sonne in law the sume of xxs Item I give u nto the three children of James Spence six sheepe equally amongst them & i f any sheepe now belonging to mee can be found that the said children s hall enjoy them Item all the rest of my goodes cattell & chattell wha tsoever I give unto the three children of Thomas [Denye] of Stoday equa lly amongst them, except five shillings which I give unto the said Thom as Denye, & I nominate & appointe my trusty friends Robt Parkinson of t he Cragge in Caton & Peter Tompson of Aughton & Thomas Sheirson of Leat h house in Ellel my true & lawfull executors of this my last will & tes tament hopinge they will seethe same truly performed as my trust is in t hem In witnesse hereof I the sayd William Hathwenett have hereunto p utt my hand & seale the day & yeare firstabove written
