Text:   Will of Dorothy Haythornthwaite of Slack 1724

In the Name of God Amen; The Nineteenth Day of August in the Year of ou r Lord God 1724; I Dorothy Hawthornthwaite of Slack in the Parish of Sl aidburn & Township of Easington & County of York, Widdow Being sick and w eak in body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto God for t he same; Calling unto Mind the Morrality [sic] of my Body, & knowing th at it is Appointed for all Men once to Die, do make & Ordain this my la st Will & Testament in Manner &form following; that is to say First & P rincipally, I give my Soul into the hands of God who gave it me; and fo r my Body, I comend it to the Earth, to be Buried in Christian and dece nt Manner at the Parish Church of Slaidburn. Nothing doubting but at th e general Resurrection I shall receive the same Again by the mighty pow er of God. And as touching such worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleas' d God to bless me in this Life, I give, bequeath & dispose the same in m anner & form following. First, I give & bequeath to Robt Coates, the so n of John Coates the sum of Ten Shillings of good & lawful English Mone y, And of this my last Will I make and ordain my well & Dear Beloved Mo ther Mary Ellot my full & Whole Exectuor but after her Decease the same t o go & be Imparted Equally Betwixt Ann Marshall & Mary Marshall the law fully begotten Daughters of John Marshall. And I do hereby utterly Disa llow revoke & anull all & every other former Testaments,Wills, Legacies , Bequeathes & Executors by me in any wise before this time named, will ed & bequeathed, Ratifying & Confirming this & none other to be my last W ill & Testament. In Witness whereof I have hereunto sett my hand & Seal t he Day &Year above written.
