Text:   Will of John Haythornthwaite of Mitton 1729

In the name of God Amen the fourth day of February in the year of our L ord God one Thousand Seven Hundred twenty and nine I John Hathornthwait e of Chadgeley in the County of Lancaster Husbandman being Sick and Inf irm in body but of a sound disposing Mind and Memory praised be God, do m ake and constitute this my last Will and Testament in manner and form f ollowing and first and principaly I comit my Soul to God that gave it H oping that through the merrits of Jesus Christ my Saviour to obtain a f ull and free pardon of all my sins, and my body to the Earth to be Buri ed in such decent and Christian manner as shall be thought fit or most c onvenient to my Executor hereafter named and touching[?] such Temporal E state as the Lord hath been pleased to bless me with in this world I Gi ve and Devise the same in manner and form following.      Imps  I give a nd devise  to Mary Holden of Chadgeley afforesd my sister in law and he r assigns all my Estate tithe and [interest?] that I have in Chaidgeley a fforesd     Item  I give to Robert Hathornthwaite of the Hasleheads in B leasdell Husbandman one Shilling,  Item after all my just Debts  Legacy s and funeral Expenses be paid and Discharged I give and bequeath unto t he said Mary Holden my Sister in Law all my Goods Cattles and Chattles a nd personal estate of what kind soever the [illeg] and Lastly I nominat e and appoint the said Mary Holden Executor of this my last will and te stament hoping that she will see the same as fully performed as my trus t is reposed in her.
