In the name of God Amen the nineteenth day of September in the two and t wentieth year of the raigne of our Sovraigne Lord Charles the second by t he grace of God of England Scotland France and Ireland King defender of t he faith…….I Agnes Hathornwhaite of Scurton within the Mannor of Nether wyresdale and County of Lancaster being sick and weak in body but of so und and perfect mynd and memory (praise be given to God for the same) r ecalling to mynd the uncertaine estate of this transitorie life, and th at all flesh must yeeld to death when it shall please God to call and b eing desired to settle things in order doo make this my last Will and T estament in manner and forme following, that is to say first and princi pally I comend my soule to Almighty God my Creator hoping to receive fu ll pardon and free remision of all my sins and be saved by the precious d eath and merits of my blessed saviour and redeemer Christ Jesus and my b ody to the earth from whom it was taken to be buryed in such decent and C hristian manner as to my Executors hereafter named shall be thought mee t and convenient and as touching my worldly estate as the Lord of his g oodnesse & mercie hath bestowed on mee my will and mynde is the same sh all bee imployed as hereafter by this my will is expressed, And First I d oe revoke renounce frustraite & make voide all wills by mee formerly ma ide and doe ordaine & Appoint this my Last Will & Testament, Itm: I g ive and bequeath unto my Grandsonne John Hathornwhaite one meal arke s tanding in the brewhouse chamber, one table standing in the house and t he fire iron or graite likewise standing in the house and alsoe that st andbed standing in the parlor. Item I give and bequeath [unto the res t] of my grandchildren being Eleven in number, each of them fortie shil lings apeece. Item I give and bequeath unto Anne Toulson my sister’ s daughter tenne shillings. Item I give and bequeath unto Dorothie a nd Elizabeth the other too daughters of my said sister either of them f ive shillings Item I give and bequeath to my said sister one red clo th petticote which was my Ants Item I give and bequeath unto my sonne W illiam Hathornthwaite one new bed [ticking?] with fethers for the same , with five bolsters and one pillow, with a pair of Lin sheets, as also o ne green Caddon and Coverlett with one pair of blanketts. Item I give a nd bequeath to my daughter Alice my [Welsh?] Chist with all my Woollen C lothes with except the aforesaid petticote Item I give and bequeath un to my said sonne William Haythornwhaite all that money owen to me from R obert Dawson the Elder now deceased, and from Robt Dawson his son, by o ne Bill obligatorie bearing date the fourth day of August in the sevent eenth yeare of the Raigne of the King that now is, and in the yeare of o ur Lord 1665 Item I give and bequeath all that money owing to me by E dward Richmond of Chippen, by one bond bearing the date the thirteenth d ay of September in the Thirteenth yeare of the Raigne of the King that n ow is, and in the yeare of our Lord God 1661 Item I give and bequea th unto my daughter in law Elizabeth my sonne Robt his wife, two ston e of flaxe Item I give and bequeath unto my Grandaughter Margaret H athornwhaite my Lin close chist, standing in the chamber where I lyv. I tem I give unto Alice Braidley one ewe lamb. Item I give and bequeat h unto my said sonne William Hathornwhaite the one halfe of what money i s oweing to me by my sonne John Hathornwhaite Item I give and beque ath the other halfe thereof to my said sonne John Hathornwhaite Ite m It is my mind and will and I doe hereby give and bequeath all the re st and remainder of my goods and remainde of my goods and debts (my fun erall expenses and my said legacies first payd and discharged) unto my f our children equally amongst them to wit Robt William and John Hathorn whaite and Alice now wife of Richard Barton, and I doe nominate appo int and make my said sonne Robert Hathornwhaite and my said sonne John Hathornwhaite Executors of this my last Will& Testament hoping that the s ame will be well and truly executed as my trust is in them reposed.
