In dei nomine Amen   The first day of March in the first yeare o f the raign of our most gracious soveraigne Lord James the second by th e grace of god of England, Scotland, France & Ireland King defender of t he faith Ano Dom 1684   I William Hathornthwaite of the Forrest of Wyer sdale in the County of Lancaster batchlor being weak and infirme of bod y yet of sound and perfect memory praysed be Almightye god for the same d oe constitute  ordeine and make this my last will and testamt in manner a nd forme following viz    First and principally I give and bequeath my s oule into the merciful hands of Almighty god my creator and blessed red eemer and my body to Christian burial in such place and manner as to my E xecutor and other my relations shall seeme meet and convenient, all due s and duties to be done for the same,   And for my temporall estate I d ispose of the same as followes    In pms I give grant and devise unto N icolas Hathornthwaite my brother all that my messuage and lands with th e appurtences in the Forrest of Wyersdale aforesaid att a place called G reenbank to have and to hold to the sayd Nicolas Hathornthwaite unto hi s heires and assignes for ever:   Itm  Igive unto Elizabeth and Kathrin d aughters of Richard Hathornthwaite my brother the sume of Tenn pounds a peece   Itm  I give unto Thomas sonn of Tho:Hathornthwaite my brother t he sume of Tenn pounds;  Itm  I give unto Robt sonn of Robert Bond my s tepfather the sume of twentie pounds     Itm I give unto James & Kathri n children of Henry Broggen my brother in law the sume of twentie pound s apiece   Itm  I give unto Jane and Elizabeth daughters of John [Stant on?] my brother in law the sume of twentie pounds apiece   Item  I give u nto the sayd Robt Bond my stepfather the sume of fower pounds and alsoe m y bay mare    Itm  I give unto Ann daughter of James Fisher two shillin gs and six pence   Item  I give unto my uncle Thomas Sherson twentie sh illings to buy a pare of gloves with   Item  I give unto my aunt Doroth y [Sherson? (altered/crossed out?)] twentie shillings to to buy a scarf e with   Itm  all the remainder of my goods and personallestate I give u nto the sayd Nicolas Hathornthwaite my brother:  And lastly I doe nomin ate and appointe the sayd Nicolas my true and lawfull executor hopeing h e will faithfully execute this my last will and testament as my trust i s in him   In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the d ay and yeare first above written

I Nicholas Hawthornthwaite Executor of the last will and testam: of Wil liam Hawthornthwaite my brother late of Wyersdaile of the pish of Lanca ster within the Archdeaconry of Richmond in the Diocese of Chester Dece ased doe acknowledge that upon the day of the date hereof I have receiv ed out of the Registry of the said Archdeaconry of Richmond the origina l will of the said William Hawthornthwaite deceased of which said will t his writeing above written is a true copye    Witness my hand this thir teenth day of May Anno dom 1685
