In the name of God amen: - I John Hathornwait of Slean End in Nethe r Wirsdale within the parish of garstang and the county of Lancaster Hu sbandman being sick and infirm of body but of a sound and perfeck dispo sing mind and memory praised bee god for the same Doe for the setteling o f my temporall concerns doe make this my Last Will and testament as fol oweth hereby Renouncing Revoacking frusterateing and making nul and voi d all former and other Will and Wills maid by mee heretofore or Execute d and I doe Declare and appoint this to bee my Last Will and testament a nd First it is my Will and mind that all my just debts funerall Expense s and charges atending the probate and Execution of this my Will and th e Incident Charges of my Executors in the Execution here of bee first p aid and discharged-----------------------Item then it is my Will and mi nd for my Wife to have all that that was her own and all that hous end a t the back side of the fier at the Lawher house and shee shall have it c ept in repare by the tenant in poseshon and that Litell orchard at the n orth side of the fould and six pole of ground more in sum convenyont pl ace for Earbs and roots likewise it is my Will and mind for my Wife to h ave forty Shillings a year and Shee Shall have one bed with forniture t hereunto belonging as her own [illeg]above menshoned Shee Shall Enjoy s oe Long as that tenement shall hould in Leas if Shee neither mary nor m iscary but if Shee remain as my Wife but if Shee Either mary or miscary S hee Shall have it noe Longer it is my mind for my Wife to have the tuis hon of my grand son William Hathornwait till such time as He eis capabl e of choosing his tutor himself and for my grand son to have a bed and a ll thereunto belonging and it is my Will and mind for my Wife to have t he use of those goods that I shall now name soe long as Shee remaine my W ife and then for my grand son to have them that is one bras clock and t he cupboard a warmin pan and the fleas pres and it is my Will and mind f or my grand son to be brought up with such scool Larning as is nedfull f or him and it is my Will and mind for my Daughter in Law Alce Hathornwa it to have five shillings and my Grand Daughter that is Eling Hathornwa it to have a giny and for to my two sisters to have twelve pence apeece a nd all that I am own ounckel to I give  twelve pence apeece all the rem ander of my Estate boath real and personall I give to my Grand son Will iam Hathornwait duering his nattuerall Life but if hee happen to die be fore hee mary or atain to the age of one and twenty then it is my Will a nd mind for all that hee did poses that was mine for his sister Eling H athornwait to have   But if Eling my grand Daughter Doe happen to die b efore she atain to the age of one and twenty then it is my Will and min d for all that then remains for it to bee Equaly devided among all my r elashons that I am own ounckel to and Lastly I doe here by nominate and a ppoint Jane Hathornwait my dear Wife and Joseph Corlas of Winmarley---- -- and John Dunderdall of Barnaker to bee my Executors of this my Last W ill and teastement in Witness whereof I the said John Hathornwait have h ere unto put my hand and seal this seventeent day of apriel in the year e of our Lord god one thousand seven hundred and forty one------

The Praisaient and Valewation of all the Goods and Chatels belongin to J ohn Hathornwait of Sleanend in Netherwirsdale Deseased [illeg] and apra ised on the sixteent Day of September in the yeare 1741 apraised by us w hose names are underwritten.

[There follows an inventoryof 23 items of farming stock and farming and h ousehold equipment, totalling£105-8-0]

Know all men from these Presents that we Jane Hathornthwaite of Sle an End in Nether Wyersdale in the parish of Garstang in the County of L ancaster widow Joseph Corles of Winmerleyand John Dunderdall of Barnike r both in the parish and county aforesaid are holden   etc   etc etc …… ………………….. the twenty second day of September in the year of our Lord on e thousand seven hundred and forty one.
The condition of this Obligation is such  That if the above bounden Jan e Hathornthwaite Joseph Corles and John Dunderdale shall and do well an d truly execute and perform the last Will and Testament of John Hathorn thwaite late of Slean End in Netherwiresdale in the parish and county a foresaid, Yeoman,  etc   etc  etc
